Ski & Sports - Mechanicsburg Ride with us on July 19 & 20, 2008
location – routes A ride for all level of cyclists, the Central PA Chapter's 23rd annual MS Bike Ride starts from Millersville University and features 25-, 50-, and 75-mile loops both Saturday and Sunday, plus an extra 25-mile loop for Century cyclists on Saturday. Cyclists can ride one or both days and are treated to top-notch support along the route, including rest stops, SAG vehicles, medical assistance, and bike repair. Join us in cycling to help fight MS! Contact Team Captain Ed Hirshman ( GREENLANE2000@VERIZON.NET Subject – use - MS Tour)We can link you up for electronic registration or stop in at the store for information To keep our big mountain ski knowledge current, we close the shop down for a week in April and head out to Utah and ski at Snowbird and some of the surrounding ski areas to get our big mountain fix! Below are some of the pictures that we took during the trip.
Above is the tram that would take you up to the summit of the mountain. From there you could ski down the whole way and ride the tram up again, or you could branch out and ski one of the many chairlifts that serviced the upper peaks.
Snowbirds summit is rather exposed and upon leaving the tram we would be assaulted with wind, this picture was taken about mid-day when the temperature was a cool 25 degrees -in the mornings it was about 5-10 degrees.
Our first day of skiing was a little cold, we were however blessed with a few inches of powder to ski through, and with a little effort we were able to find pockets of snow where the powder had accumulated!
Check that vista out! This was the view from the summit, just as you stepped off the tram platform, making for quite a view on nice clear days!
